ECG Announces Eight-Hour Power Cuts Across Parts of Accra Today

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned power outages in parts of the Greater Accra Region today, Monday, May 25, 2026, as it undertakes maintenance works aimed at improving electricity supply reliability.

According to the power distributor, the scheduled maintenance exercises will affect customers within the Accra East and Accra West operational areas from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In a public advisory, the ECG said the planned exercise forms part of efforts to strengthen the power distribution network and improve service delivery to consumers.

Areas expected to be affected in the Accra East Region include Katamanso, ECG Quarters, Regimanuel Estate, Bayere, Junction, Dzorwulu Railway, Dzorwulu UBA and surrounding communities.

Meanwhile, customers in parts of the Accra West Region, including Odawna, Upper Weija, Old Weija, Oblogo, Top Base, Agape, C.P., Maame Nkran, Ablekuma, Winners Chapel, Pentecost Junction, Agbaadzena, Fanmilk and nearby areas, are also expected to experience temporary interruptions in power supply during the maintenance period.

The planned outages come on the back of several technical faults that disrupted electricity supply in parts of the Tema and Accra West Regions over the weekend.

On Sunday, faults within the ECG network in the Tema Region affected electricity supply to Dawhenya, Abbeykope and adjoining communities, prompting engineers to move in to restore power.

Another technical challenge in the Accra West Region also left areas such as Mamprobi, Camara, Agbogbloshie and the Timber Market enclave without electricity for several hours.

The ECG apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience caused by both the planned maintenance and the recent unexpected outages.

The company assured the public that its engineers are working to resolve all technical challenges while continuing efforts to improve the stability and reliability of the national power distribution network.
