Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has officially assumed duty as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, signalling her readiness to work with key stakeholders to advance Ghana’s environmental sustainability, science, technology and innovation agenda.
In a message on her Facebook page, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings said she assumed office following a formal handover from the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who had been serving as Acting Minister.
“This morning, I officially assumed office as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, following a formal handover from the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who had been serving as Acting Minister,” she stated.
She said her immediate focus would include working with the leadership and staff of the Ministry, its agencies and partners to advance the country’s environmental sustainability, science, technology and innovation objectives.
“I look forward to working with the leadership and staff of the Ministry, our agencies and partners to advance Ghana’s environmental sustainability, science, technology and innovation agenda,” she said.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings also expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded her as she begins her new assignment.
“I am grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to the work ahead,” she added.
Her assumption of office comes as Ghana faces mounting environmental and sustainability challenges requiring stronger institutional coordination, scientific innovation and effective collaboration among government, industry, academia, civil society and development partners.
The new minister is consequently expected to provide leadership in strengthening environmental governance while positioning science, technology and innovation as key tools for addressing Ghana’s development and environmental challenges.
