Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has called for reconciliation and unity within the Safo family, saying the enduring legacy of her late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, must rise above individual differences.
In a statement, Ms. Safo said she had deliberately chosen the path of reconciliation, mutual respect and family unity as the family moves beyond differences and grievances that may have characterised the period following their father’s death.
She said the time had come for the family to “transcend whatever differences, misunderstandings or grievances” and work together to preserve the values and accomplishments associated with their late father.
A major feature of her statement was her public recognition and support for her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asɔ Church.
Ms. Safo said she had “immense love and respect” for her brother and, in honour of their father’s wishes, acknowledged and accepted his leadership.
“I am prepared and willing to work together with him in the interest of the family and the Church, in furtherance of our father’s Vision and Legacy,” she stated.
She emphasised that their father’s legacy was not the possession of any one individual but a collective inheritance and responsibility entrusted to his children.
According to her, the family must therefore rise above its differences, protect what Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo built and ensure that his ideals continue to inspire future generations.
Ms. Safo extended her appeal beyond the immediate family to members of the Kristo Asɔ Church, the wider Kantanka family and people associated with their father’s work during his lifetime.
She urged them to acknowledge and respect the unity of the family and embrace what she described as a new chapter founded on reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose.
Her statement also conveyed goodwill towards Israel Kwadwo Safo and her other siblings as the family seeks to move forward.
“May this new chapter bring healing, unity and renewed strength as we come together to honour and advance the legacy of our beloved father,” she said.
