Mr. Eben-Kay Kwabena Hodo has been elected Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professionals Forum (ProForum), in a closely contested race at the Forum’s 6th Annual Summit.
Mr. Hodo polled 340 votes, representing 53 percent, to defeat his sole contender, Mr. Arnold Appiah, who garnered 296 votes, representing 47 percent.

The election took place during the just-ended two-day summit held from April 17 to 18, 2026, in Accra. The gathering held under the theme: “Strengthening the Reset Agenda for Continuous Economic Growth and Prosperity” brought together professionals from diverse fields across the country and the diaspora who share in the ideals and vision of the NDC.
Mr. Hodo’s victory is widely seen as a mandate for a more participatory and engagement-driven ProForum, following a campaign that emphasized inclusivity, innovation, and structured member involvement.
At the heart of his campaign was “HODO’S SERIES focus on Strengthening Engagement & Participation,” a policy framework aimed at transforming the Forum into a more interactive and responsive professional body.
Central to this agenda is the establishment of a structured business engagement platform.

Mr. Hodo has also proposed the creation of a dedicated digital portal to receive business and project proposals from members. High-impact initiatives, he indicated, would be refined and submitted to the Office of the President for consideration, with ProForum members playing leading roles in implementation.
He also outlined plans to institutionalize quarterly general meetings to provide a consistent platform for members to share ideas, raise concerns, and contribute to decision-making processes within the Forum.

In addition, Mr. Hodo has committed to facilitating an Annual Global Networking Forum aimed at strengthening collaboration among members, while deepening engagement with party leadership and government officials.
Observers say these proposals, if effectively implemented, could significantly enhance member participation and position the ProForum as a dynamic hub for professional input into governance and policy development.
