Ablekuma North Education Directorate Honours Ewurabena Aubynn for Advancing Teaching and Learning

The Ablekuma North Municipal Directorate of Education has honoured the Member of Parliament for the area, Ewurabena Aubynn, for what it described as her exceptional commitment to improving education delivery and expanding digital learning opportunities within the municipality.

The recognition was presented in the form of a citation by the Municipal Director of Education, Harriet Lomotey, during the commissioning of a refurbished ultra-modern ICT laboratory at Odorkor Saleria 1 Basic School under the government’s One Million Coders Programme.

Presenting the citation, Madam Lomotey praised the MP for her sustained interventions in the education sector, describing her contribution as transformative and unprecedented within the Greater Accra Region.

“Today’s gathering is a clear demonstration of our shared responsibility towards improving educational opportunities for all learners, as well as preparing them for the demands of the modern world,” she stated.

She noted that the MP’s dedication to improving teaching and learning outcomes had brought renewed hope to schools in the municipality, adding that the support being extended to the education sector was already making a significant impact on learners and teachers alike.

“We wish to sincerely acknowledge our Member of Parliament, Honourable Ewurabena Aubynn, for the remarkable interventions and continued support towards educational development within the municipality,” Madam Lomotey said.

According to her, the MP’s commitment to education goes beyond rhetoric and is reflected in practical initiatives aimed at equipping learners with relevant skills for the future.

“Her commitment to improve teaching and learning opportunities for all learners within Ablekuma North is very deep, and I sincerely appreciate that,” she added.

Madam Lomotey described the refurbished ICT laboratory as a symbol of hope, progress and opportunity for learners in the area, stressing that the facility would provide a conducive environment for students to explore technology, develop their talents and broaden their knowledge in an increasingly digital world.

According to her, the launch of the One Million Coders Programme in the municipality would help equip young people with digital and technological skills needed to compete in the modern economy.

“This initiative will aim to equip learners of Ablekuma North with digital skills and in-demand technology training that will create jobs and help rebuild the Ghana we all want,” she noted.

The Municipal Director also urged students and school authorities to take responsibility for maintaining the facility to ensure that future generations would equally benefit from it.

“To my dear learners, I expect you to own the facility. I expect you to be responsible and ensure that the facility serves the next generation,” she charged.

The refurbished ICT laboratory is expected to serve as a major training centre for coding, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity education under the One Million Coders Programme, positioning Ablekuma North as the first municipality in Ghana to establish such a modern ICT learning hub in support of the country’s digital transformation agenda.

Receiving the citation, the MP Ewurabena Aubynn reaffirmed her commitment to building an inclusive digital future for young people in the constituency, insisting that access to technology and digital literacy would be critical to creating opportunities for the next generation.
