A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oti Region, Annie Oppong, has officially declared her bid for the position of Women’s Organiser for the Biakoye Constituency, promising stronger grassroots mobilisation, women’s empowerment and greater party unity as she seeks to reposition the constituency’s women’s wing for sustained electoral success.

Campaigning under the theme “A Voice, Not an Echo,” Madam Oppong says her leadership will prioritise inclusiveness, grassroots engagement and practical empowerment programmes that directly improve the lives of women across the constituency.
Her campaign message, “Papapaaa Nie,” is anchored on three pillars—Empowering Women, Building Communities and Delivering Change—which she describes as the foundation of her vision for the women’s wing.
In a message, the hopeful urged delegates to entrust her with the mandate to serve, promising to be a leader who listens, represents every voice and works tirelessly to strengthen the NDC at the branch level.
“I seek your mandate not merely to occupy a position, but to serve as your voice. Together, we can build a stronger women’s wing, mobilise effectively for the party and create opportunities that empower every woman in Biakoye,” she emphasised.
Madam Oppong brings to the contest an impressive blend of academic excellence, public service experience and extensive political organisation.
Profile
She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Sikkim Manipal University, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and a Diploma in Basic Education from the Dambai College of Education.
Professionally, she currently serves with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) at its Nkwanta Regional Office in the Oti Region, where she contributes to environmental governance and sustainable development initiatives.
Before joining the EPA, she built an accomplished career within the education sector. She served as the Biakoye District Girls’ Education Officer, where she championed programmes promoting girls’ digital safety, STEM education and menstrual hygiene awareness. She also worked as a School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) with the Ghana Education Service in the Nkonya Ahenkro Circuit and taught at Kefe Memorial E.P. Junior High School at Tapa Abotoase in the Biakoye District.
Her commitment to youth and girls’ development also saw her serve as Oti Regional Commissioner of the Ghana Girl Guides Association, where she mentored young women and promoted leadership and community service.
Within the NDC, Annie Oppong has established herself as a dedicated organiser with an extensive record of service across the party’s structures.
She is a member of both the Oti Regional Women’s Wing Working Committee and the Oti Regional Youth Wing Working Committee, where she serves as Deputy Director of Research, Innovation and Policies. She also serves as Deputy Oti Regional Women Commissioner of the NDC Teachers Forum and represents the region within the Gallant Cadres of the NDC.
At the constituency level, she has previously served as District Coordinator of the NDC Teachers Forum, District Coordinator of the 31st December Women’s Movement, a member of the Constituency Communication Team, and was certified as a Desktop Constituency Officer during the 2024 general elections. Additionally, she contributes to the NDC Professional Forum as a communication team member for Women Commissioners.
Political observers say her combination of professional expertise, organisational experience and grassroots involvement positions her as a formidable contender for the Women’s Organiser position.
As the NDC prepares for its internal elections, Annie Oppong’s campaign is centred on a message of unity, service and effective mobilisation. She believes a stronger women’s wing will not only deepen participation within the party but also enhance the NDC’s electoral strength in the Biakoye Constituency and the wider Oti Region.
With delegates set to decide the next leadership of the constituency’s women’s wing, Madam Oppong is urging members to support a leadership that will amplify women’s voices, nurture future leaders and deliver meaningful change for both the party and the communities it serves.
