Foreign Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa attends Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration

The Minister of Foreign Affairs for the republic of Ghana,  Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was among the many foreign dignitaries who attended the formal inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV on Sunday 18 May, 2025.

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, the first American born pontiff of the over 1.4 billion global Catholic population was elected by the 133 conclave of cardinals as the 267th successor of St Peter following the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday.

Thousands of Catholic faithfuls, world leaders and representatives attended the inaugural Mass at the St Peter’s Square at the Vatican.

President John Dramani Mahama was represented by Foreign Affairs minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who received papal blessings from the Pope.

Pope Leo who presided over his innaugural Mass returns to the traditional papal vestments and received the foreign delegates who attended the event.
