Ghana Reaffirms Strong Ties with France as Ambassador Mavis Ama Frimpong Attends Bastille Day Celebrations

Ghana’s Ambassador to France, H.E. Mavis Ama Frimpong, has reaffirmed the strong and longstanding diplomatic relationship between Ghana and France after representing President John Dramani Mahama at the French Republic’s official Bastille Day celebrations held on July 14, 2026, along the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Ambassador Frimpong conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes from President Mahama to the Government and people of France on the occasion of their National Day, underscoring Ghana’s commitment to deepening the historic friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.

The annual Bastille Day celebration, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789—a defining moment in the French Revolution—honours the enduring republican ideals of Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité (Liberty, Equality and Fraternity).

The event celebrates France’s national unity and democratic values that continue to inspire nations across the world.
This year’s ceremony attracted Heads of State, members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, military leaders and other distinguished guests, who gathered to commemorate France’s National Day and celebrate the country’s rich history and enduring commitment to democracy, liberty, equality and fraternity.
Ambassador Frimpong’s participation reflected the cordial and longstanding relations between Ghana and France, while reinforcing the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen diplomatic cooperation, friendship and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Ghana and France have over the years maintained a robust relationship built on mutual respect, political dialogue, trade and investment, education, cultural exchanges, security cooperation and sustainable development initiatives. The two countries continue to collaborate closely on regional peace and security, economic transformation, climate action and other areas of common interest.

By representing President Mahama at one of France’s most significant national events, Ambassador Frimpong reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to expanding bilateral cooperation and advancing a partnership that delivers shared prosperity and strengthens the longstanding bonds between the people of Ghana and France.
