President John Mahama has nominated Member of Parliament for Ejumako Enyan Essiam, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Finance Minister-designate for the West African nation, Ghana.
Dr Fosrson who is currently the Majority Leader in Ghana’s 9th Parliament and leader of Government Business was the Minority Leader in the 8th Parliament of the 4th republic. He was the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of the 8th parliament before his appointment as the Minority leader.
The Finance Minister-designate is expected to appear before the Appointments Committee of the legislature for vetting, where his suitability for the job will be scrutinised by his colleagues especially by those on from the Minority side.
His nomination was contained in a communique from President John Dramani Mahama to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin alongside two others, the Energy Minister-designate, John Abdulai Jinapor and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice designate, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.
When finally approved by parliament, Dr Forson faces the arduous challenge of fixing the economic mess he acussed the erstwhile Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia government of ditching Ghana into.
