BoG Second Deputy Governor Asante-Asiedu Named Governor’s Representative on GoldBod Board

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has appointed its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, as the authorised representative of the Governor on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
The appointment, contained in a letter dated May 11, 2026 and signed by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson P. Asiama, takes effect from Monday, May 11, 2026.
Under the arrangement, Mrs Asante-Asiedu will attend and fully participate in all GoldBod Board meetings on behalf of the Governor.
The letter addressed to the Chairman of the GoldBod Board, stated that the Second Deputy Governor had been nominated to represent the Governor’s interests, contribute to deliberations and exercise all rights and responsibilities vested in him as a member of the Board.
The Governor further requested the GoldBod Board to extend the necessary courtesies to Mrs Asante-Asiedu to enable her to effectively carry out the role.
The appointment comes as GoldBod continues to play a central role in Ghana’s gold purchasing, aggregation and trading activities, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s management of its gold resources and foreign exchange position.
Mrs Asante-Asiedu is one of the three Deputy Governors of the Bank of Ghana and brings her experience at the central bank to the GoldBod Board.
