A group calling itself “Volta Renaisnace Forum” is urging a fair representation of the Volta region in the up-coming John Dramani Mahama led NDC government.
According to the group, the people of the Volta region have kept faith in its support to the NDC over the years and demonstrated same in the massive victory delivered for the party in the just ended December 7 elections with 90.11% of presidential votes.
A Press Release issued by the group dated January 5, 2025 urged that people appointed to head the region should understand the development challenges of the region and can work with them “in creating the right environments and structures for the growth and development of the region”.
The Volta Rennaissance Forum expressed confidence in President Mahama and the NDC leadership to reason with them to keep the trst of the region.
“We are confident the Leadership of the Party and the President-Elect, H.E John Dramani Mahama, will reason with us and listen to our call to keep the trust and hope that the Region continues to have in the NDC as the only Party interested in their development.
May God continue to bless our Homeland, Ghana, and make our Nation Great and Strong”.

“VOLTA RENAISSANCE FORUM CALLS FOR FAIR VOLTA REPRESENTATION IN THE INCOMING NDC GOVERNMENT
The Volta Renaissance Forum wishes to salute the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and, more especially, the President-Elect H.E John Dramani Mahama on their massive victory in the just ended 7th December 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. The Victory, we believe, is a testament to the faith Ghanaians, including the good people of the Volta Region, have in the NDC. It is without a doubt that the people of the Volta Region have unswervingly kept faith with the NDC over the years and have emphatically demonstrated the same by giving the NDC 90.11% of the Presidential votes and also ensuring the votes of the New Patriotic Party does not go beyond 50% of what they got in the 2020 elections.
We also wish to express our profound gratitude to all Voltarians in the diaspora for their support, both Human and Material, which ensured the party was able to marshal every arsenal available to motivate high voter turnout, resulting in the massive votes recorded for the NDC in the region and beyond. It is gratifying to note that the massive support of Voltarians in the diaspora ensured the significant votes secured by the NDC in crucial regions like Ashanti and Greater Accra regions and indeed many other regions which in effect contributed to the massive number of seats won by the NDC.
The forum is aware of the ongoing lobbying for positions by person(s) who deemed themselves qualified for such positions or believe they deserve such; which is normal in the formative days of every new government. However, we wish to call on the Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the President-Elect, H.E John Dramani Mahama, to take into account the following suggestions when appointing persons on behalf of the Volta Region.
- That there is fairness in the appointments so that the Volta Region is appropriately represented in the incoming government.
- Ensure that such persons are cleared by the Regional Executives of the party as having contributed to the party in the region and thus represent the dreams and aspirations of the people of the Region. This, we believe, will ensure that the persons appointed will represent the interests of the region and not their interests.
- That the people appointed understand the development challenges of the region not from afar but have lived through it so they can work with us in creating the right environments and structures for the growth and development of the region.
- That we do not appoint people who only see themselves as Voltarians only and only when it suits their interests.
The Volta Renaissance Forum hereby wishes to state that we shall not hesitate to resist any attempt to foist on us persons whose relationship with the region cannot be ascertained and thus cannot be said to represent the dreams and aspirations of the people of the Volta Region in general and specifically the teaming supporters of the Party whose Blood and Sweat delivered such huge victory as seen in the results in the recent Elections.
We are by this calling on all well-meaning Voltarians, Home and Abroad, to keep their eyes on the region and also stand with us as we work together to realize the growth and development that has eluded us all these years. It is painful and demanding when the NPP always tries to accuse the people of the Volta Region of supporting the NDC, even in the absence of any meaningful development projects.
We are confident the Leadership of the Party and the President-Elect, H.E John Dramani Mahama, will reason with us and listen to our call to keep the trust and hope that the Region continues to have in the NDC as the only Party interested in their development.
