Ablakwa, Domelovo headline Mahama’s anti-corruption agenda

President-Elect, John Dramani Mahama is in a hurry to deliver his mandate to the people of Ghana as his Transition Team has set up a dedicated team to tackle his anti-corruption agenda ahead of his inaugural ceremony on January 7, 2025.

The move is an important step in his quest to deliver on his campaign promise dubbed “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL).

ORAL is aimed at recovering proceeds of corruption and hold persons responsible for such corrupt acts accountable to the people of Ghana.

This announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Transition Team stating that “a Team has been set up to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption.”

The ‘investigative’ Member of Parliament for North Tongu and current chair of Goverments Assurances Committee of the 8th parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been named as chairman of the team.

Other members of the team includes notable figures with expertise in auditing, law enforcement, and investigative journalism:

  • Membership of the Committee:

  • Mr. Daniel Domelevo: Former Auditor-General
  • COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye: Retired Police Commissioner
  • Mr. Martin Kpebu: Private Legal Practitioner
  • Mr. Raymond Archer: Investigative Journalist

According to the Transition Team, president Mahama “intends to hit the ground running on these commitments.”

The statement signed by spokesperson for the Transition Team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, reiterated the President-Elect’s resolve to tackle corruption head-on, signaling a robust approach to accountability under the new administration.
