The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has dismissed allegations circulating on social media suggesting that the sector minister, Samuel Nartey George, had misappropriated public funds.
In an official statement issued by the Public Relations Directorate on May 18, 2026, the Ministry described the claims as “inaccurate, misleading and devoid of context,” insisting that no public funds had been released or spent in relation to the document being circulated online.
According to the Ministry, the document in question was only an extract from a broader official submission requesting Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance for planned activities and projects for the 2026 fiscal year.
The statement explained that the request was made in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures, based on budgetary allocations approved by Parliament.
“The request covers a range of planned projects, operational activities and programme interventions to be undertaken by the Ministry within the year under review,” the statement noted.
The Ministry further clarified that the Commitment Authorisation request was still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Finance, emphasising that no disbursement or expenditure had occurred.
MOCDTI said attempts to portray the document as evidence of financial misconduct were misleading and should be treated with caution.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and strict compliance with public financial management regulations in the execution of its mandate.
