The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has intervened in to mediate the escalating dispute between Azumah Resources Ghana Limited and Engineers & Planners(E&P) Company Limited, two key players in Ghana’s mining sector.
In a letter dated July 10, 2025, addressed to the leadership of both companies, Sector Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah announced a final seven-day window within which the parties must resolve their differences amicably.
The intervention follows a flurry of press releases and public statements from both sides that have heightened tensions over the disagreement.
“In light of the circumstances, I have decided to grant the parties a final period of seven (7) days within which to resolve the matter amicably,” the Minister stated.
Mr Buah cautioned that failure to reach a resolution within the stipulated time would prompt the Ministry to take a decision “in the best interest of the country.”
Minister Buah urged all parties to refrain from further media commentary, emphasizing the importance of “constructive dialogue and responsible engagement.”
He also directed the Minerals Commission to actively facilitate the mediation process and ensure that the impasse does not derail the commencement of the project in question.
This move by the Ministry reflects growing concern over the impact of investor disputes on Ghana’s mining and investment climate, especially at a time when the country is pushing for greater local participation and stability in the extractives sector.
