Veteran lawmaker for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda will serve as Chairman of the Lands and Natural Resources Committee of the 9th Parliament of Ghana.
Alhaji Colins Dauda became Ghana’s longest-serving Member of Parliament when he was sworn-in on January 7, 2025, as a member of the 9th Parliament.
This is the eighth term he is serving as a Member of Parliament representing the people of Asutifi South in the Ahafo Region, formerly part of the Brong Ahafo Region.
Alhaji Dauda is a former Minister responsible for Lands and Natural Resources, Water Resurces, Works and Housing and is expected to bring his rich experiences to bear in the discharge of the committee’s oversight functions.
The nineteen Member Lands and Natural Resources Committee is composed of thirteen (13) members from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus and six (6) members from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus.
The new Standing Orders of the House assigns the Lands and Natural Reources committee oversight responsibility over issues concerning the extractive sector which was previously performed by the Mines and Energy committee.
The newly established Energy Committee is expected to exercise oversight responsibility over issues and institutions concerning the power sub-sector.
