Outcome of 2024 Election was a people’s revolution against insensitive NPP Government – Dr Ato Forson

The Minority Leader in Ghana’s parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has described the outcome of the December 7 elections as a revolution against the poor governance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

According to the Ajumako Enyan Essiam MP, the results showed a direct response to a government that often dismissed opposing views as “detractors, cynics, naysayers, Sanbalat, and Tobias.”

Dr Forson said these during his welcome remarks as the House reconvenes for the last Meeting of the last Session of the 8th Parliament on December 16, 2024.

“Mr Speaker, what happened at the polls on December 7 was a revolution, the people’s revolution! It was a revolt against a government that was obstinate, insensitive, high-handed and dismissive of public opinion.

“It was a revolt against a government that called people with dissenting views names such as detractors, cynics, naysayers, Sanbalat and Tobias”

The Minority Leader stated that the NPP has been punished for its poor governance, economic mismanagement, obstinacy, greed, state capture, corruption, and arrogance of power.

“Ghanaians have clearly shown that they cannot be taken for granted and that when it matters the most, they will either reward those in government or punish them for their sins.

“Mr Speaker, it is obvious that the NPP has been punished for its poor governance, economic mismanagement, obstinacy, greed, state capture, corruption, arrogance of power, impunity, disrespect, lawlessness and persecution of its political opponents.”

The minority leader expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for the massive show of support to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the polls and wished well to current Members of Parliament who failed their re-election bid, hoping for success in their future pursuits.
