The newly elected Women’s Commissioner of the National Democratic Congress Professionals Forum (NDC ProForum), Sophia Ama Otabil, has expressed profound gratitude to members of the forum for the confidence reposed in her following her re-election.
Ms. Otabil was overwhelmingly endorsed at the 6th Annual Summit of the ProForum held in Accra, where she went unopposed and secured 605 votes, representing 95 percent of ballots cast for the position.
In a message of appreciation to members after her endorsement, she described her re-election as both an honour and a renewed call to serve.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each of you for the confidence reposed in me… This renewed mandate is not only a privilege but also a call to serve with greater dedication, humility, and commitment to the collective goals of our organization,” she stated.
She assured members of her commitment to advancing the empowerment of women within the ProForum and upholding the values of the organisation.
“I will work diligently to uphold the values of ProForum and to advance the interests and empowerment of women within our ranks,” she added.
Summit Outcomes
The 2026 summit, which is the sixth edition of the gathering of professionals aligned with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), recorded a total of 1,385 registered voters, with 636 ballots cast, representing a turnout of 45.92 percent.
Other key outcomes from the elections saw Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse elected President with 577 votes (91%), while Samuel Hans Wauku secured the First Vice President position with 65% of votes, defeating Michael Damoah.
Eben-Kay Kwabena Hodo was elected Secretary General with 53% in a closely contested race against Arnold Appiah, while Dr. Joshua Doe was endorsed as Deputy Secretary General with 95%.
Dr. Robert Doh emerged as Youth Commissioner with 96% of the vote, while several candidates, including Alexandra Mills, Dr. David Teteh, Dr. Fiasal Sulley, Winfred Baah, and Tony Atsakpa Nyagamago, were elected as Executive Members with strong mandates.
Ms. Otabil’s re-election is expected to reinforce ongoing efforts within the ProForum to deepen women’s participation and leadership in the party’s professional wing.
