COP30: Climate Crisis Gradually Reshaping the World Order – Armah-Kofi Buah Cautions

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has urged world leaders to take urgent and decisive measures to confront the escalating threat of climate change, cautioning that the crisis is “gradually reshaping the world order.”

Addressing delegates at the COP 30 Climate Conference in Brazil on Monday, November 10, 2025, Mr. Buah highlighted that the worsening climate emergency — evident in rising sea levels, erratic weather patterns, and extended droughts — is pushing vulnerable communities to the edge of survival.

He lamented that although African countries like Ghana contribute minimally to global carbon emissions, they continue to bear the brunt of its devastating consequences.

“We are among the world’s lowest emitters, yet we stand on the frontline of the climate crisis,” he said. “The evidence is clear — extreme weather events, unpredictable rainfall, unprecedented floods, heatwaves, and droughts that literally crack the earth.”

The Minister warned that these recurring climate shocks now pose serious risks to food security, public health, and livelihoods across the continent.

“These are not theoretical projections; they are lived realities that translate into hunger, malnutrition, and the erosion of livelihoods sustaining millions of vulnerable people,” he emphasized.
