The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, Queenstar Pokuah Sawyerr, has lifted the burden of transport for the Queen Mothers of the Agona Nsaba Traditional Area with the donation of a brand-new 11-seater Hyundai H200 mini bus.

At a colourful ceremony at her Kyanyako residence on September 30, 2025, the lawmaker, affectionately called Obatanpa, handed over the keys, fulfilling a request made by the Queen Mothers to ease their movement in performing traditional and community roles.

Beaming with excitement, the MP said the gesture was part of her commitment to empower women leaders and ensure they are better resourced to serve their people.
“This is part of what I do regularly, to help our revered Queen Mothers move freely and continue their invaluable work for Agona East,” she said.

Beyond the bus, Obatanpa revealed that 100 boreholes are currently under construction across the constituency in partnership with the District Assembly and central government to solve chronic water shortages affecting the area.
She further assured residents that steps are being taken to restore regular flow of pipe-borne water.

Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin, lauded the MP’s “unique brand of service and philanthropy,” urging constituents to rally behind her.
President of the Agona Nsaba Traditional Area and the Central Regional Queen Mothers Association, Nana Adwoa Nkansa Aduam III, could not hide her joy. She showered blessings on the MP and thanked her for “always putting people first.”

The Queen Mother also used the platform to appeal to government to urgently rehabilitate deplorable roads in the constituency, especially the Winneba Junction–Agona Nsaba stretch, which she said was crippling women’s economic activities.

Each of the Queen Mothers present also received pieces of cloth, Bags of rice, cooking oil and cash gifts from the lawmaker.

The event drew officials from the Agona East District, party faithful, and community leaders, who joined the Queen Mothers in merry-making, thanksgiving and prayer for wisdom and strength for their MP.
