The Member for Tema West, James Enu OSP has underscored the urgent need for the public to understand to work of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to engender public trust.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Thursday 25 March, 2025 in a contribution to a motion for the approval of the 2025 budget estimates for the OSP, Mr Enu decried the negative public perception associated with the office as an arresting institution.
The Tema West lawmaker narrated an incident that occurred at a school visited by the Special Prosecutor on an educational mission.
According to him, the students upon seeing the OSP took to their heels for fear of being arrested.
Mr James Enu therefore urged the need for public awareness creation on the functions of the Special Prosecutor to prevent negative public perception about the office.
He also called for increase resource allocation to the OSP To help save and recover more money for the state.
