The Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Benjamin Boakye, has been recognised at the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) Changemaker Awards in New York.
ACEP announced the recognition in a social media post celebrating Mr Boakye for what it described as the significant impact of his work across Africa in the areas of natural resource and energy governance.
According to ACEP, the distinction acknowledges his ability to combine rigorous research and technical expertise with public-interest advocacy to challenge decisions affecting some of the continent’s most important natural resource and energy assets.
The organisation said Mr Boakye’s work has contributed to strengthening public scrutiny and accountability around the management of Africa’s natural resources and energy sector.
“Congratulations, Benjamin,” ACEP said in celebrating the recognition, describing the award as a well-deserved acknowledgement of his contribution to natural resource governance.
The NRGI Changemaker Awards recognise individuals and organisations contributing to improved governance of oil, gas and mineral resources and advancing transparency and accountability in resource-rich countries.
Mr Boakye has been a prominent voice in Ghana’s energy and natural resource policy discourse, with ACEP engaging in research, policy advocacy and public education on issues including petroleum governance, mining, energy transition and the management of natural resource revenues.
