Ghana’s Ambassador to France, Mavis Ama Frimpong, has commended the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for what she described as his visionary leadership and a forward-looking approach to national development.
Speaking during a meeting with a Ghanaian parliamentary delegation in Paris, the Ambassador praised the Speaker for prioritising international engagement and knowledge-sharing through participation in global platforms such as the ChangeNOW Summit 2026.
“Our Speaker of Parliament is a visionary leader. He does not think only for today, but also about the future of our country,” she said.
According to her, the decision to send a high-powered delegation to the summit demonstrates Parliament’s commitment to learning from global experiences and adopting innovative solutions to Ghana’s challenges.
“I am not surprised that he sent such a strong team to learn lessons, share experiences, and connect with others whose expertise can help us address our national issues,” she noted.
Ambassador Frimpong further highlighted the Speaker’s active engagement with international institutions, including governance bodies and the French Parliament, to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
She revealed that discussions are ongoing with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OCECD0 to secure support for Ghana, particularly in energy and environmental sectors.
The Ambassador also linked the Speaker’s efforts to the broader development vision of President John Dramani Mahama, noting that Ghana’s “reset agenda” aligns closely with global sustainable development goals.
She emphasised that Parliament’s growing involvement in climate and development diplomacy is critical, especially as global attention intensifies on environmental sustainability and food security.
“If environmental issues are not addressed, we cannot ensure food security or even our survival. It is a global concern, and Ghana must be part of the solution,” she said.
Ambassador Frimpong expressed confidence that continued collaboration between Parliament, the Presidency, and international partners will yield significant benefits for Ghana’s development trajectory.
