Climate Communications and Local Governance-Africa (CCLG-Africa), a civil society organisation has applauded Ghanaians on the conduct of a peaceful 2024 general elections elections.
Ghana’s commitment to democratic values it said serves as a model for the rest of the African continent.
This was contained in a press statement signed by President, CCLG-Africa, Kofi Don Agor dated December 9, 2024.
“We extend our warmest congratulations to the people of Ghana on a successful election. Your commitment to democratic values is a shining example to the rest of Africa” it said.
CCLG-Africa congratulated the President-elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, on his victory and expressed optimism of working with his administration to address the challenge of climate and environmental challenges confronting the nation.
The group also commended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the show of statesmanship in conceding defeat graciously and called on all Ghanaian citizens to support the incoming government for the national good.
“This spirit of unity and cooperation is crucial for the country’s continued growth and prosperity,” the statement noted.
CCLG-Africa stressed Ghana’s milestone achievement in upholding democracy and encouraged the nation to continue serving as a beacon of hope for the rest of Africa.
The statement concluded with the words, “May your democracy continue to flourish and inspire others across the continent. ” It also committed to strengthening governance and climate resilience under the new administration.
