Position Yourselves to Influence Change Wherever Life Takes You – Ablekuma North MP Challenges Young Girls

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has challenged young girls to prepare themselves for leadership and national service, urging them to develop the confidence and skills needed to shape society wherever life may lead them.

The lawmaker gave the admonition when she joined colleagues from the Women’s Caucus of Parliament to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026 through an outreach engagement with students in Accra.

The programme brought the female legislators into direct interaction with students from the Street Academy Ghana and selected technical and vocational schools, creating an opportunity to mentor and encourage the young participants to pursue their ambitions with determination.

The engagement formed part of activities marking this year’s global celebration under the theme “Give to Gain,” which highlights the importance of investing in women and girls as a catalyst for sustainable development.

Madam Aubynn urged the girls to recognise their abilities and take advantage of opportunities that come through education and skills training.

She told them that leadership is not limited to positions of authority but begins with the willingness to contribute positively to society.

“Each of you has the capacity to make a difference in your community and beyond, the choices you make today, how you learn, how you develop your talents and how you support others—will determine the impact you make tomorrow”, she stated.

She further encouraged the students to remain focused on their goals despite challenges, noting that discipline and resilience are essential qualities for success.

“Your dreams are valid, but they will require effort and persistence,” she said. “Stay committed to improving yourselves and never underestimate the influence you can have in shaping the future.”

Members of the Women’s Caucus also encouraged the students to build strong networks and support systems among themselves, emphasising that collaboration among women is vital for progress.

During her interaction with the girls at Street Academy, Ms. Aubynn stressed that women must be intentional about lifting one another.

“When women create opportunities for each other, the entire society benefits,” she noted. “We grow stronger when we work together and share the knowledge and experiences that help others succeed.”

Students who participated in the engagement expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact with female lawmakers, describing the encounter as both inspiring and motivating.

The outreach forms part of the Women’s Caucus’ broader efforts to mentor young girls and encourage them to develop the confidence and leadership qualities needed to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
