Ghana’s global investment credentials have received a major boost as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie, has been elected Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa on the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) Steering Committee.
The announcement was made at the 29th WAIPA World Investment Conference held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, where the GIPC also won the prestigious 2025 Excellence in Aftercare Award for its outstanding investor support and retention services.
Mr. Madjie’s election marks a significant milestone for Ghana as the country continues to position itself as a top investment hub in Africa. Under his leadership, the GIPC has implemented bold initiatives such as the Investment Opportunity Mapping Project (IOMP) — profiling investment-ready projects across Ghana’s 261 districts.
These efforts align with national programmes including President Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy, the Export Development Programme, and the Big Push Agenda, all designed to drive industrial transformation and attract both local and foreign investors.
As WAIPA Regional Director, Mr. Madjie will champion investment promotion across Sub-Saharan Africa, coordinate regional FDI initiatives, and advocate sustainable investment aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“This recognition is not just for GIPC, but for Ghana,” Mr. Madjie said. “It reaffirms our strategy of treating every investor as a lifelong partner and promoting sustainable, inclusive growth across Africa.”
He also announced the Ghana International Investment Summit, scheduled for August 2026, which will showcase opportunities in agribusiness, renewable energy, digital innovation, manufacturing, and tourism.
WAIPA Executive Director Ismail Ersahin praised the GIPC’s innovative aftercare model, describing it as a new global benchmark for investor confidence in emerging markets.
Themed “Transforming Our World: Investing for a Resilient and Sustainable Future,” the WAIPA 2025 conference brought together global investment leaders and showcased best practices from around the world.
With this milestone, Ghana cements its leadership in sustainable investment promotion and collaboration across Africa.
