Mahama: New Solar Project to Power Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana’s new Solar for Industries Project will be a central pillar of the country’s 24-hour economy agenda and a catalyst for industrial expansion.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Multi-purpose Solar Energy Project at the Dawa Industrial Park in Agotor on Thursday, November 6, President Mahama said the facility is designed to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable power to manufacturing and export zones nationwide.

He explained that the initiative forms part of government’s broader efforts to scale up renewable energy access and advance sustainable industrialisation under the National Renewable Energy Master Plan. The project, he noted, will help Ghana reach its target of at least 15% renewable energy in the national energy mix.

“The Solar Industry Project, powered by PAC Solar in partnership with Quam Investment, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Chinese EPC contractors, marks a major step towards renewable-powered industrial growth,” President Mahama stated.

He added that the facility’s dedicated power supply to industrial and export enclaves will be crucial to sustaining the government’s 24-hour economy policy and industrial recovery programme.

“This facility will generate clean, stable, and affordable electricity for Ghana’s manufacturing and export zones. It lies at the heart of our 24-hour economy vision and our strategy for industrial recovery,” he affirmed.
