GoldBod brings renewed urgency to address mining industry challenges – Otumfuo

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has welcomed the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) describing it as the creative initiative that is needed for the rise of the country’s mining industry.

GoldBod was established by Act 400 as the sole authority with exclusive right to oversee, regulate, buy, sell, weigh, grade, assay, value and export gold and other precious minerals in Ghana.

The Asantehene who gave the commendation in speech at the Global Mining Summit in Accra on Monday 2, June, 2025 said the move will increase prospects for more investment and higher earnings for the country.  

“The emergence of the new Goldbod is a creative initiative we need for the rise of the industry, increasing the prospect for more investment and higher yields. It injects a new urgency to the challenges we are trying to address,” he said.

The King was also full of praise for the Acting Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi for his leadership in the record establishment of the company and thaned him for his efforts.

“Sammy, I thank you very much for this one,” he said.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also commended the introduction of the Gold for Oil program which he described as a positive initiative that opens new horizons for the mining industry.
