Traditional Leaders within the Tema and Ashaiman municipalities are advocating President John Dramani Mahama to appoint somebody who can help fix the several challenges facing the TDC Ghana limited and the proper planning of Tema and its catchment ares such as Ashaiman, Nungua, Kpone and others.
They obsereved the deteriorating nature of Tema and TDC and the need to refix things.
Speaking to Journalists in Tema, the traditional leaders mentioned that there have been challenges confronting the area and that over politicization of development of the area needs Milch to be desired.The elders mentioned one Kwasi Darko Asare as one with the competent and capacity to deal with the challenges.
Regent of Ashaiman, Nii Annan Adzor noted that, Mr Kwesi Darko Asare has distinguished himself as a Land Economist and Director of estate at the TDC Company, and understands the dynamics of the enclave.
He has accordingly proposed the candidature of Mr Darko to President Mahama to appoint and pledged the unflinching support of the traditional leaders.
Planning he said has been problematic since the first planned city in west Africa has been destroyed especially with containers and developing all green belt areas.
The Chief of Ashaiman who is a member of the traditional council commended “Mr Asare is intelligence, decent and work ones all when serving as director of estates, professionally he is good and we will have no problems working with him and he will also understand the traditional authorities in Tema, Kpone, Ashaiman and Nungua” he remarked.
The Nii Shipi of Tema Traditional Council, Nii Shomponu 11 says he personally will welcome the President’s appointment of Mr Kwasi Asare Darko as the MD of TDC company and will support his bid, because of the person he is. They also asked that the President will give them a mayor to an indegene. He ask for a tema that is developed well.
Former Mayor of Tema and Council of state member Nii Adjei Annan it is about time TDC was given to someone who has been a part of the system and knows how things were originally planned as Tema where all planning issues have gone bad.
“Kwasi Darko Asare has the character to do the work, capacity and the ability to relate to people and he is the right person for the job” He noted.
Mr Adjei Annan lamented how Tema has been destroyed and blames such of the packing of political actors at the TDC which has the mandate to plan and develop the city but personal and political interest has affected the TDC.
