The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced the reconvening of Parliament effective Monday, December 16, 2024p at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
This was contained in a communication issued by the Speaker’s Office on December 11, to offically confirm the location for the highly anticipated parliamentary meeting since the announcement ten days ago.
Mr Bagbin on December 2, 2024 in an official communication announced the reconvening of Parliament on December 16.
Speaker Bagbin declined a call by the leader of Government Business, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin to recall the House ahead of the December 7 general elections on the basis that it will affect the campaign of Members of Parliament.
A major business expected to be conducted as the tenure of 8th parliament comes to an end is the motion for the adoption of the Vote on Account.
A vote on account authorises withdrawal of money from the Consolidated Fund to cover expenditure for the first quarter of 2025 as as the new Mahamaled NDC Government prepares its first budget.
