The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Dayi, Joycelyn Tetteh has commissioned an ultra-modern Learning Resource Centre for the Vakpo Senior High School located in the constituency to enhance teaching and learning.
The gesture demonstrates the lawmakers long held commitment towards improving education delivery which she believes is a necessary tool for the development of the area.
Background
Hon Joycelyn Tetteh during the Students Representative Council (SRC) week celebration in May this year made a cash donation of Fifty-Nine Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc 59,000.00) to management of the school towards the establishment of the Center.
Some equipment at the VASEC Learning Resource Center include 10 HP Elite Computers and accessories, air conditioners, TV set, and other essential resources that are expected aid the students acquire the requisite Information Communication and Technology (ICT) skills, expose them to AI as they prepare for the WASSCE examinations.
The Learning Resource Centre is one of the several footprint interventions by the North Dayi MP, Joycelyn Tetteh towards the education sector in the constituency.
Other Interventions
Other interventions by the MP includes the construction and renovation of several classroom blocks for basic and second cycle schools in the area, donation of cash and building materials including cement and roofing sheets towards a number of school projects such as sports facilities, kitchen, the provision of mechanised water systems for selected schools, provision of street lights to schools, donation of jerseys and footballs, donation of desks and chairs to schools among several others.
A major game changing educational sector intervention by Hon Joycelyn Tetteh is her ”Going to School With Joy” initiative, where over 800 BECE graduates are supported annually with essential items as they begin their secondary education journey.
Through the initiative, the North Dayi MP distributes items such as mattresses, chop boxes and trunks, exercise books, mathematical sets, food items including sardines, mackerel, sugar, gari and toiletries such as toilet rolls, sanitary pads, and buckets.
The objective is to cushion parents by eliminating the financial burden of acquiring all these items for their wards to school.
A total of 783 students benefited from the MP’s gesture last month.
MP’s Commitment
Speaking at the commissioning of the Learning Resource Centre, the MP reiterated her commitment to contributing her quota towards the improving education and other sectors to enhance the living standards of the people.
She assured that the educational sector a new NDC government with President John Dramani Mahama at the helm of affairs and her good self as MP for the area will witness significant transformation.

The student leadership and the headmaster expressed their gratitude the MP for her nurturing support, investments, and unwavering interest in improving education in the area whiles assuring of their resolve to maintain the facility.
