Nine mining companies sue Paramount Chief of Atti-Morkwa Over Galamsey

The embattled Paramount Chief of the Atti-Morkwa Traditional Area in the Central Region, Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV, who is already facing legal action for his alleged involvement in illegal mining, has been hit with a fresh lawsuit.

In this new case, nine additional mining companies have taken the Chief to court, accusing him of engaging in illegal mining activities on their concessions.

The companies allege that the Chief has illegally trespassed on their mining lands, intensifying the legal troubles he already faces.

Previously, Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV was sued by Kadesh Mining Enterprise for allegedly carrying out unauthorized mining operations on their concession, also in the Central Region.

This new legal action further compounds his ongoing legal battles.

The nine mining companies are seeking a court order to restrain the Chief and his workers from invading their concessions.

Additionally, they are requesting that the court order the restoration and reclamation of the areas that have already been mined.

During the court session on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, His Lordship Samuel Faraday Johnson, who is presiding over the case, adjourned the hearing to October 28, 2024.

The judge indicated that he is awaiting a ruling from the Kumasi High Court regarding the jurisdiction in which the case between Kadesh Mining Enterprise and the Paramount Chief will be heard.
